Zahed Mohamed stuns third seed Elvinn Keo in 1st round - Al Hasan Open 2011
Later in the day, Egyptian Zahed Mohamed stunned the third seeded Malaysian Elvinn Keo by recoiling from a set down in the opening round of the Al Hasan Open 2011. The two had duelled for a while at the Al-Hassan International
Squash Center in Amman Jordan but the Egyptian overpowered his opponent with a score of 8-11, 11-6, 11-7, and 11-6.
The first round was kicked off by the Egyptian but he was unable to hold his serve in the very beginning of the set and eventually endorsed a few points to his adversary. On the other hand, the Malaysian capitalized from the break
and was able to get a good start as he did not drop his serve for the initial part of the game. As he hit a few rail shots with his strong forehand, he accomplished to bag the opening round with an 11-8 score.
Nonetheless, the Malaysian was unable to produce the same level of game and technique and this time he straight nosedived into the abyss. Mean while, the Egyptian was able to hold his serve and as he smashed much more advanced
shots than his opponent, he clogged the second by restricting his opponent to only six points in the entire game!
By the third set the Malaysian had picked up a bit but that was all that he could muster. On the contrary, the Egyptian surprised the third seed by not only maintaining his serve but by also by a tactful return. He skilfully managed
to drive the ball back tighter into the back corner which resulted in the third seeded Malaysian to dig out the ball and eventually cost him the game.
The fourth and the final game was an easy victory for the Egyptian as he once more used the variation method to conquer the third seeded Malaysian. The only reason the third seed lost was because he was unable to guess Mohamed’s
ball placing.
Nevertheless, in doing so; he reserved a berth in the quarterfinal of the tournament where he will be facing the winner of the first match, Jordanian Ahmad Alzabidi.
