Zaheer Abbas criticises PCB chairman for disappointing performance

Speaking to a news channel, Abbas said Butt’s performance as a PCB chief was disappointing after a lot had been expected out of him when he became the chairman. Abbas said, “There are calls for changes and
if anyone does approach me to head the board I will accept it as a challenge since Pakistan cricket has given me a lot,"
The PCB had earlier taken a decision in their board meeting that the Pakistani squad for the World Cup will be first sent to the International Cricket Council’s Anti Corruption and Security Unit for verification
of players’ off-field behaviour. In essence, it means that the ICC will be indirectly involved in the selection of the Pakistani side for the World Cup – an unprecedented move in the history of cricket.
Abbas said, "It is clear that the PCB and its selectors have to seek clearance from the ICC for the World Cup players. The situation we find ourselves now is because the ICC is taking all decisions by itself
regarding Pakistani players. The PCB needs to take damage control steps like improving communication with other boards to restore confidence,"
Abbas also added that while not too many like to be criticised, the PCB needed to chin the criticism and try and improve.
Praising the former Pakistani captain, Younis Khan for his sterling return to Test cricket, Abbas also pointed out that it was good to see him overcome the injustice meted out to him with his performances.
