Zaheer Abbas likely replacement for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128 as chairman PCB
For the last two years under Ijaz Butt chairmanship of the PCB, Pakistan cricket has seen many controversies. Ijaz Butt’s incompetency as the Chairman of the cricket board of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 has been under scrutiny from many past senior cricket officials and the
parliamentary committee for sports.
The Parliamentary committee for sports chairman, Iqbal Mohammad Ali, not so long ago appealed for the removal of Ijaz Butt. In a letter written to the President, Mr Asif Ali Zardari he argued how Ijaz Butt’s tenure has been replete with gaping holes of unprofessionalism.
In some recent news that has surfaced it has been learn’t that former cricketer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zaheer-Abbas-c98435, might be one strong candidate to replace Ijaz Butt as the chairman of crickets’ governing body in Pakistan. Sources within the PCB also revealed that the President
is looking for prospective candidates for the job, and Zaheer Abbas has emerged as one strong suitor for the job of the chairman.
Personal grudges of Mr Ijaz Butt have kept many senior cricketers at bay, including Younis Khan, that has gravely dented the middle order of the Pakistani cricket team. Without some much needed experience, the team has suffered during international tours.
Most importantly Ijaz Butt’s recent statements against the English players seemed to have threatened the diplomatic ties between Pakistan and England and the High Commissioner of Pakistan in England, Wajid Shamsul http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hasan-c61990 was quick to clarify the highly erratic
remarks of Mr Butt. Mr Hasan, said that it was a “very innocent argument”, and went on to state, "He [Ijaz Butt] said it's very strange that, when Pakistan loses a match, people describe it as spot-fixing or fixing of the match. When Pakistan wins the match,
the same allegations are levelled against it".
In the wake of the statement by Ijaz Butt, the England Cricket Board has reacted furiously and issued a strongly worded statement, where they threatened legal action against Butt describing his comments as “wholly irresponsible and completely without foundation”.
Meanwhile, sources in the PCB also revealed, that other names such as Tauqir Zia, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ali-Khan-c996 Abbasi were also being considered by the Patron-in-Chief of PCB.
All the names under consideration, with the exception of Tauqir Zia have served the cause of cricket greatly and the replacement of chairman PCB could certainly have a positive impact on the state of affairs of Pakistan cricket.
