Zaheer Khan looking to exploit Australia’s weakness against swing – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Z-Khan-c98379 is looking forward to trouble the Australian batsmen with his pace and swing in the first Test of the four match series at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Monday, December 26, 2011.
The Kangaroos have proved to be a touch weaker in recent times, especially if the conditions are not favourable for batting. This has given a chance to India of winning their first ever Test series on the Australian soil.
However, the Men in Blue will need their bowlers to be fit throughout the series in order to cause problems for the opposition.
Zaheer will hold the key for India, as he has the ability to get wickets both with the new and old ball. However, his past record in terms of fitness is not good, which will be big concern for skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028.
The 33-year-old pacer has toured Australia twice before, but broke down on both occasions. He also sustained an injury against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 in a recently played series and has not played a single game since then.
Despite all that, Zaheer is raring to go against the Kangaroos and believes he will be able to capitalise on the current batting struggle of the opposition.
The veteran seamer said, “It is definitely encouraging as a bowling unit [that Australia are struggling against swing], our strength as Indians has always been swinging the ball. That's what we're going to rely on here as well, even though the wickets here
will offer bounce, we'll still be trying to use the swing of the ball.”
Commenting on his preparation for the Boxing Day Test, the Indian speedster said that everything was going to plan.
He added, “I've definitely had a lot more time to prepare as far as this series is concerned. I feel I've done everything possible to get here, and very happy with the way things are going personally for me. Happy with my rhythm in the nets and a bit of
match practice will help me.”
The left-arm seamer is likely to take part in a practice game against the Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 Chairman’s XI in Canberra, right before the start of the series.
