Zaheer Khan recommends County cricket for upcoming Indian fast bowlers – Cricket News Update
In a recent interview with the Times of India, the injury-stricken, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Z-Khan-c98379, recommended that the nation’s upcoming fast bowlers should play County cricket in order to groom their skills under the department, since it is something which does not come
naturally to an India player.
“It’s not a natural thing. Indian bodies are not designed to bowl fast but that said, it’s not very different from bowling outside India. Basically you have to spend a lot of time understanding yourself, your art, and then find out what works for you and
what doesn’t. It also involves a lot of hard work,” said Zaheer.
Prior to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, much was expected from Zaheer; but to his despair, he was ruled out from the squad after suffering from a hamstring injury, right on the opening Test fixture of the visit, which restricted the left-arm pacer
to miss out on the remaining 3 Tests, one-off Twenty20 (T20) and 5-match One Day International (ODI) series.
However, this does not come as the first time for Zaheer to suffer an injury; in the past, the bowler has been making regular exits from the national squad due to occasional hamstring and knee injuries.
As for now, Zaheer assured that he has already started recovering from the damage, which is though slow but positive.
Commenting on Indian pacers and their performances, Zaheer further added that one cannot retain the same skills which make a good bowler under the domestic circle, since International cricket has a smaller margin for errors.
“You need to understand your bowling style and work on fitness that much more. The bottom line is as long you are able to produce results, it is fine. I also dropped pace, so basically it's important to know what works for you at the international level
and put that into practice,” said Zaheer.
Although it is not yet confirmed when Zaheer is to make a comeback to the squad, but for now, the pacer stands firm to his recommendation for playing County cricket and that youngsters need to focus on more practice sessions.
