Zaheer Khan, the spearhead of the Indian bowling attack has started practicing again after undergoing surgery.
The left-arm pacer was ruled out of India’s five-match One-Day international series due to hamstring and ankle injuries he carried during the England tour.
Zaheer wrote on his social networking page, “Started bowling slowly few days back ...feeling much better now :):).”
Zaheer was part of India’s tour to England, where he sustained a hamstring injury in the opening game of the four-match Test series, which the tourists lost 4-0 to the hosts. Looking at the seriousness of his injury, he was sent home
earlier.
Zaheer was part of India’s World Cup winning campaign, after which he joined the money spinning Indian Premier League's (IPL) fourth edition. He also suffered an injury in the Twenty20 tournament and missed the next http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 tour.
However, after being ruled out of India’s recent limited-overs squad, he is recovering slowly but still he could not give any definite time period for his come back to International cricket.
"The first phase of my rehab programme went off pretty well. I have started with the second phase of my rehab. I will be soon going to the National Cricket Academy. My progress has been slow but a positive one," Zaheer said.
Zaheer added that he would need full strength in his ankle to start bowling again.
“Then I might play a few club matches or first-class matches. I am taking one day at a time and not setting any targets," asserted Zaheer.
Zaheer Khan made his International debut in year 2000, but unfortunately he missed a considerable part of his career due to different injuries. Had Zaheer not been hampered by injures, he could be the India’s most composed fast bowler.
The 33-year-old has featured in 188 ODI innings, claiming 273 wickets at an average of 28.84. Bowling in 144 Test innings, he has claimed 273 wickets at an average of 31.78.
