Zaidpour to get the better of Voler La Vedette in Bar One Racing Hatton´s Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse
Voler La Vedette would have been our top choice, if she had not performed below-par on her seasonal comeback last month. In the Grade 2, Lismullen Hurdle at Navan, the mare was not facing a strong opposition, but still failed to show a dominating act.
Ridden by A. E. Lynch, the 8-year-old settled in the rear early on. The 1-7 favourite chased the leader in the middle stages, but was completely unable to make an impression. Staying on the same pace in the final stages hurt her cause badly, as she finished second to Whatuthink by four and a quarter lengths.
An awful loss right at start of the season has introduced a significant element of doubt. So, it is very hard to trust C. A. Murphy’s mare in Grade 1, Bar One Racing Hatton´s Grace Hurdle, being hosted by Fairyhouse on Sunday, December 02, 2012.
Owned by Mrs M. Brophy, the daughter of King’s Theatre might find it difficult against Zaidpour, who had beaten her in the past. In a tactical affair at Gowran Park in January, Zaidpour comfortably beat the 4-6 favourite, Voler La Vedette, by a length’s distance, and he could do it once again.
The going is soft for the 2m4f event. The ground could well play a part, thus the punters should stick only with Zaidpour, who is a proven winner here. The Willie Mullins-trained is coming off a long break of almost six months.
Ahead of going on vacations, the 6-year-old ran a couple of fine runs outside UK. His record in Great Britain is very impressive. The Mrs S. Ricci-owned will be ridden by the experienced, Ruby Walsh - another mega plus.
The abovementioned pair alongside three other horses will start running at 14:40 GMT. The contest is for a handy prize of 52,000 Euros.
Monksland has no worries about the trip. However, there are a few other concerns. So Young could make things slightly tough for the stable-mate, Zaidpour. Si C’Etait Vrai is in good shape, but facing a stiff test. We wish all the best to the participants.
