Zaka Ashraf claims Bangladesh’s tour to Pakistan will end security concerns – Cricket News Update
Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Zaka Ashraf believes that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747’s tour to Pakistan next year will bring an end to all security concerns that have prevented international teams to visit the country.
Pakistan last hosted a bilateral series in 2009 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, but it ended in the most unfortunate way.
The hosts’ were attacked by terrorists in Lahore, but were lucky enough to survive in the end. There were a few injuries to some of the players, but no one was badly hurt.
Since then, the Men in Green have been hosting games on neutral venues like the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World Cup 2011 matches on home soil and the board suffered big losses.
However, things seem to have changed now, as the security conditions in the country have improved a lot. This gave an opportunity to Ashraf to hold talks with teams in order to resume cricket in Pakistan.
He recently visited Bangladesh to hold talks with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials.
The meetings turned out to be positive, as the BCB president http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 in 2012. He took the decision after being nominated for the ICC’s presidency by PCB.
Although Ashraf was delighted with the agreement, he claimed that the security arrangement will have to be top class in order to prevent the 2009 episode in the future.
The PCB chief said, “A successful tour by Bangladesh to Pakistan would mean a new beginning for international cricket in Pakistan. Obviously, this would be watched closely by other member countries and we have to demonstrate that security arrangements are
of the highest standards.”
Prior to touring Pakistan, the BCB officials will take a look at the security arrangements in order to give green signal to their team.
Commenting on that, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397 added, “We have to show them the security plans and if they still have any concerns then we will settle them with their input to give them the required comfort to ensure that the tour goes ahead.”
The new PCB chairman had claimed that resuming international cricket in the country was his priority and he seems to have succeeded in plans.
