Zaka Ashraf content after meeting with BCCI President – Cricket News Update
The chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Zaka Ashraf, felt satisfied after holding talks with his Indian counterpart, Narayanaswami Srinivasan, claiming that the meeting was indeed fruitful in terms of mutual cricketing relationship between two countries.
The PCB chief was invited by the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) president, Srinivasan, to watch the final match of Indian Premier League (IPL) between Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings. The match was won by KKR by 5 wickets, on Sunday 27, MA Chidambaram Stadium Chennai.
"It was a courtesy call by Mr. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Srinivasan-c90829 as I'm his guest. It was a one-to-one meeting. We discussed many things in brief. There were a lot of pledges (made) from both sides,” told Ashraf.
"I feel that if what he says and what he plans is implemented the bilateral series will really be revived. I am quite hopeful," he added.
Initially, the PCB chief was on a three-day tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 but the positive response from the BCCI president has forced him to extend his stay, where he is now hoping to find a concrete solution on when both sides could kick-start their rivalry on the cricket field. The two teams last played each other in 2007 on Indian soil – a contest won by the home side.
Since then, it has been hard for the two boards to resume ties, following the terrorist attacks in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820, which caused the deaths of more than 150 people. The Indian government was adamant that the attackers were from their close neighbours, instructing BCCI to forego any future commitments with the PCB.
However, an upturn in the relationship has been observed in recent times, with BCCI opening the door for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sialkot-c842 Stallions to come and take part in the Champions League T20, scheduled to be held in October this year.
This will be the first time a domestic club from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 will participate in the lucrative T20 competition, which comprises the best local sides from all Test playing nations.
The resumption of bilateral series is still under consideration, with the PCB chairman hoping to conclude his stay with a major breakthrough.
"The BCCI has been extremely cordial and I enjoyed every bit of my stay here. We will have some concrete good news for you very soon," http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397 added.
