Zaka Ashraf hopes to restore International Cricket at home – Cricket News Update
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 in April this year.
The 59-year old chairman has told that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 Cricket Board (BCB), after their visit to Pakistan last week, have returned back on a satisfactory note following their inspection of the overall security arrangements and protocol the PCB had to offer.
He also hoped that this tour holds the key for other international teams to come and play here.
"Inviting Bangladesh is the first step and once they come we can try to convince other teams to follow suit. I am confident that once this series is played international activities can be restored in Pakistan," said Ashraf.
Among the latest developments, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 has further offered their backing by approving a Dispensation policy, according to which teams can arrange a bilateral series at any unsafe venue by appointing the officials of respective participating nations.
“They (BCB officials) were shown all the security drills that would be in place for the series and after visits to Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi they returned home satisfied," said the chairman.
The final decision in this regards now lie in the hands of the Bangladeshi government, which are expected to review their concerns within the next few days. If the tour is given a go ahead, PCB will nominate local match-officials and will start the preparations
for a hopefully successful first series at home since 2009.
Zaka also revealed that the BCB has requested to reduce the tour scheduling, which was originally two Tests, three ODIs and a T20, to either 3 ODIs or 2 ODIs and a T20 International.
The Chairman added that the board is making a strong effort to revive international cricket in their own country instead of sending the national team to play their matches at neutral venues, which deprives the local fans from their most beloved sport.
The tour is expected to take place in the mid of April. The venues are not confirmed as yet however, the most probable remain the Gaddafi stadium Lahore and National Stadium Karachi.
