Zaka Ashraf keen on resuming international cricket in Pakistan – Cricket News Update
The Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Zaka Ashraf had vowed to resume international cricket in Pakistan on his appointment as the Chairman and he has been working hard on fulfilling his promise.
It seemed that the Bangladesh Cricket Board had agreed to send its team to Pakistan for a One Day International tour, but the news emanating after the conclusion of the Asia Cup is that the Bangladeshi government is not granting permission to the team for
the tour.
The BCB Chairman, Mustafa Kamal had led a nine-member delegation to Pakistan to assess the security situation and submit a report to the government. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mustafa-Kamal-c78122 was satisfied with the arrangements but so far the Bangladeshi government has not given permission
to the team.
“I talked to him (Mustafa Kamal) in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 during the Asia Cup and he told me he was committed, but I will make a formal announcement after the security report is cleared by his government,” Ashraf said.
In the case of the tour falling through, Zaka Ashraf has made contingency plans. At a sports gala he said, “I don't want to disclose the names of the countries, but we are in touch with at least two boards.” This is a clear indication that Ashraf is serious
about resuming cricket in the country.
The International Cricket Council has been supportive of Pakistan as well. They have given Pakistan the leverage of using non-neutral umpires for the home series, which means that the umpire’s on the ICC panel can be called upon to officiate the matches.
Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 has cooperated with us a lot," and he further added, "It is willing to consider Pakistan's home umpires ... which is a positive sign."
No cricket team has visited Pakistan since March 2009 when the visiting Sri Lankan team, which was en route the Qaddafi stadium in Lahore for a match, was attacked by armed militants. Since then http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 has been playing its home matches in other countries,
and the people have been deprived ever since of international cricket.
