The Chairman of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board (PCB), Zaka Ashraf, is excited about Sialkot Stallions’ participation in the upcoming Champions League T20 and hopes that the country’s champions will do well in the tournament.
The much-awaited competition is scheduled to be played in October this year in South Africa.
If things go ahead smoothly, the Stallions will become Pakistan’s first team to take part in the illustrious event, which hosts the domestic champions of all major cricketing nations.
Stallions, led by the former Pakistan captain, Shoaib Malik, were all set to take part in the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2008, before Indo-Pak relations deteriorated as a result of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Attacks, leading to the postponement of the event.
The two countries have not played any bilateral series since then but both the boards have shown positive signs in the recent times.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shoaib-Malik-c90088 and company are without doubt the best T20 team in the country and have won the national T20 championship six times, alongside clinching the previous Super 8 tournament.
Ashraf, while speaking to a press-conference in Lahore, expressed that the board has received an official invitation by the Board of Control for Cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 (BCCI) and prays that the team will perform up to the mark in the tournament, as they are going
to represent Pakistan.
“The Sialkot Stallions have received their application from the Indian cricket board and they will travel to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 and we have high hopes of them performing well and representing Pakistan and their region. Our prayers are with them,” the Chairman
PCB said.
Considering the kind of consistency Sialkot have shown since the last eight years, one can expect them to give a tough time to some of the bigger teams of the event.
While talking about the proposed T20 league by Pakistan, Ashraf revealed that the board is working extremely hard to implement the plan.
Ashraf expressed, “The documentation on the Champions League is currently being worked on and we are looking at in detail. Companies will then come in and buy the teams.”
