Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397 satisfied with security for Indo-Pak series – Cricket News Update
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Zaka Ashraf has expressed satisfaction over the security arrangement being put in place by the Indian government and the BCCI for the Pakistan cricket team ahead of the short-limited over series between the arch-rivals, starting in Bangalore on December 25.
“We are not worried about any security issues,” said the PCB chief during a media interaction on Friday, adding, “we are certain that the Indian board and government will provide the best possible security for our players.”
Pakistan players are scheduled to tour their eastern neighbours in late December and early January next year to play two T20 Internationals and three One Day Internationals. Pakistan team will arrive in Bangalore on December 22, while the tour opening T20 International between the outfits will be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore two days later. The second T20 International will be hosted by the Sardar http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 on December 30, January 3 and 6.
A four-member PCB delegation, including a senior member from the interior ministry, is currently in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 to inspect the security arrangements at the venues scheduled to host the T20 and ODI matches, and to coordinate other issues with the Indian authorities.
Despite the threats from Indian political party Shiv Sena being reported in the media, Ashraf was confident the players of both the sides would be able to focus completely on their game and give good results.
This is the first time since 2007 that the two teams will be playing each other in a bilateral series. Cricketing relations between India and Pakistan have been on a deadlock since the deadly http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 attacks in 2008, since the Indian government suspected the latter’s involvement in the lethal attacks.
The PCB chief hoped the much-anticipated series between the nemeses this month would also help improve the bilateral relations between the two Asian neighbours.
“I don't see this series as just a cricket series I see this series as something bigger. I would like it to eventually help improve relations between the two countries,” Ashraf said.
