Zaka Ashraf to take charge of Pakistan Cricket Board on Monday – Cricket News Update
The new chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128, who was appointed as the board’s chief in 2008.
According to a close source to Zaka, “He will finally sit in the Board from Monday although it has been a week since the government issued the notification confirming his appointment as PCB chief.”
The source further revealed, “Zaka is very particular about protocol and he is disappointed that no one from the board until now has not tried to contact him to find out when he will take charge. He is very particular about protocol and about his image in
the media.”
The newly appointed chief of the PCB was previously the president of Agricultural Development Bank of Pakistan (ADBP). However, he had to step down from that role in order to take charge of the cricket affairs in the country.
Zaka’s biggest challenge will be to improve the image of Pakistan. The country has been playing its local games on neutral venues since the Sri Lankan team was attacked in Lahore back in March, 2009.
Both teams are once again playing a complete series hosted by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE).
Things have improved to some extent in Pakistan and there is a possibility of an international series being hosted in the country sooner than later.
At the start of this year, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 and did not have time to hosts a series prior to the ICC World Cup 2011.
Apart from that, the International Cricket Council (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625) has also been planning to resume international cricket in the troubled country.
The sport’s governing body has been planning to send a World Eleven to the country in order to revive international cricket once again in the cricket loving nation.
Zaka will be hoping that such a series is conducted soon in Pakistan, which will be a huge success for him at the start of his tenure.
