Zaka Ashraf to watch IPL final with BCCI chief-Cricket News Update
The chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397, has welcomed the invitation from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to watch the final match of the on-going Indian Premier League (IPL) on May 27, at Chennai.
This is a first time in three years when the Indian cricket board has shown a positive gesture towards its arch-rivals, following the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 attacks.
“It is a positive step forward in further normalising bilateral cricket ties between the two countries,” said Ashraf.
The chairman PCB believes that his visit will allow him to unfold many future plans regarding the resumption of international cricket between the two countries. He further aims to meet a few top officials of BCCI in a bid to negotiate possible avenues to
ensure that both countries end their cricketing stalemate.
“The invitation will allow me to undertake a two-day visit to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 and I plan to use this visit to have informal discussions with the BCCI officials regarding chances of restoring bilateral cricket ties,” he said.
Last week, BCCI also opened the door for Pakistan’s domestic team, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 will be representing its nation in the lucrative competition.
The last bilateral series between Pakistan and India was staged in 2007, when the Green Shirts toured their neighbors for a three Test-match series. The cricketing ties however, were broken soon after that, with both countries only clashing in ICC’s high
profile events.
"We are positive about it as we want to play India regularly in bilateral matches and we are willing to talk to them at every level to achieve this," said the PCB chief.
The contest between the Men in Green and the World Champions has always been a nail-biting event. Out of 59 Test matches being played between the two, Pakistan has an edge their opponents by claiming three more victories, while in 121 ODIs the Green Shirts
are leading the table by 19 wins.
According to Future Tour Program of the International Cricket Council; both nations are scheduled to play against each other however the dates and fixtures of the series are not yet specified, owing to the Men in Blue’s hectic calendar.
