Zaka Ashraf wants revival of Indo-Pak series – Cricket News Update
The newly appointed chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE).
Pakistan is currently hosting a complete series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 in the UAE and the team has played many matches against India as well in the past.
This is why Zaka believes that if there is a problem in India coming to Pakistan or vice versa, the teams should play on a neutral venue in order to provide entertainment to the fans, who have been deprived of an intense series.
According to the PCB chief “My foremost idea is to set up matches between India and Pakistan. I have written letters to the Board of Control for Cricket in India and its chairman asking for an appointment to meet him. I will request them and ask why the
people of Pakistan and India should be deprived of this good competition between the two countries.”
Zaka is currently present in UAE and wants the Indo-Pak series to resume there. He added, “I want to revive those tournaments like the Sahara Cup and the Sharjah tournaments. I want http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 to come back and play here.”
Last time when Pakistan and India faced each other in a bilateral series was back in 2007. Both teams have only come head to head in International Cricket Council’s (ICC’s) events since then and the last time was the World Cup 2011.
However, the political ties between the two countries have improved in recent times and there is a chance of both teams going head to head in 2012.
Things are still not quite certain though, as the former PCB chief http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128 clarified that his team will only visit India once they tour Pakistan for a bilateral series.
This might not be possible for the time being, as there has been no international cricket played in Pakistan for almost four years due to security concerns.
However, Zaka has now shown flexibility by proposing a series at a neutral venue and this might be the turning point for the cricket lovers in the neighboring countries.
