Zaka Ashraf writes to BCCI seeking resumption of cricketing ties - Cricket News Update
The newly appointed chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board, Zaka Ashraf, on Saturday revealed that he had written to his Indian counterpart that they are willing to send their cricketers to India next year, in order to restore bilateral cricket ties between
the two countries.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397, who took over as PCB chief last month after Ijaz Butt’s three-year term ended on October 8, told the media reporters before leaving for Dubai that he had written a letter to the president of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Mr.
N http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Srinivasan-c90829, in which he had urged for the resumption of cricketing ties between the two nations in the better interest of the game.
"I have said in the letter we are willing to play in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 next year and the BCCI should finalise details of the tour as soon as possible," said Ashraf in a media encounter on Saturday.
As per International Cricket Council’s Future Tours Programme (FTP), Pakistan is scheduled to tour India in March-April next year, but the BCCI officials have not yet confirmed the tour, nor have they sent any details to their counterparts in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755
Cricket Board.
The bilateral cricket ties between India and Pakistan have reached a deadlock since the deadly http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 attacks in November 2008. The Indian government suspects Pakistan's involvement in the terror attacks and the BCCI, in the aftermath of those attacks,
cancelled its team’s tour of Pakistan in 2009.
The PCB chairman, in his letter, has urged the Indian cricket board to finalise the details of the series as soon as possible, so that they could start their preparations accordingly.
"In the letter I have highlighted the importance of normalising cricket ties between both countries and the impact it will have on cricket in the region at a time when relations at the government level are also improving," added Ashraf.
During his Dubai visit, the PCB chairman is scheduled to meet the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Haroon-Lorgat-c61719.
Ashraf also hinted at visiting India soon to have one-to-one discussions with the BCCI officials.
