The Moroccan ace’s move away from Philips Stadion has been finalised, as the Portuguese outfit has agreed terms with the Eindhoven giants to acquire the 19-year-old’s services.
Reports from Philips Stadion confirm that Sporting Lisbon have successfully agreed terms with PSV Eindhoven to acquire the services of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zakaria-Labyad-c37796. The Portuguese side has reportedly paid compensation to the Eredivisie outfit
to lure the 19-year-old away from Philips Stadion.
The 19-year-old, who came through the ranks of PSV’s youth academy, started his professional career at the Boeren in the 2009/10 season.
The Moroccan ace made only 13 Eredivisie appearances in his first two seasons at Philips Stadion, but his consistent showings convinced the then PSV coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fred-c14136 Rutten, to instate him in his side’s starting XI for the 2011/12 season.
Labyad’s contract was due to expire in the summer of 2012, and the youngster, who played 45 matches while wearing PSV colours, thought he could leave his club on a free transfer.
Meanwhile, the PSV management took up the option to extend the versatile forward’s deal for another couple of seasons. However, the youngster made it clear that he does not want to prolong his stay, and wants to move away from
the Eindhoven giants before the ongoing summer transfer window slams shut.
After weeks of transfer speculation, it is now confirm that Labyad will leave PSV to join Sporting after the Portuguese side agreed to pay for his signature.
A statement on the club’s official website read:
“http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 and Sporting have come to a full agreement about the transfer of Zakaria Labyad who played for the youth academy of PSV since 2004-05. The contract with the player has been terminated. The path is clear for Labyad to play
for Sporting. PSV received financial compensation which can be increased due to good performances for the club or a possible transfer of the player”.
Reports indicate that several other European clubs including http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 were taking keen interest in acquiring the young attacker’s services this summer.
However, Labyad himself opted to join Sporting Lisbon, and would be putting pen to a long-term contract in the coming days.
