Zakry Latif, Fairuzizuan Tazari march into pre quarter-finals of Thailand Open – Badminton news
Men’s Doubles team of Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif-Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari of Malaysia remained victorious in the opening round of SCG Thailand Open and reserved a pre quarter-final berth on June 6, 2013.
The Malaysian campaigners were up against the twosome of Lukasz Moren and Wojciech Szkudlarczyk and their meeting prolonged to 54 minutes in Nimitbutr National Stadium of Bangkok, Thailand.
Both pairs displayed commendable badminton craft and kept the audience intact while registering the decisive figures of 22-20, 19-21 and 21-14.
Although Zakry Latif and Fairuzizuan Tazari faced troubles in the opening game, yet they sealed a splendid win by prevailing in the first and last sets of the match. On the other hand, the Polish duo could serve the notice of their dominance only in the
second set.
The opening game started with few back-to-back gruelling rallies as both teams tried hard to get an immediate advantage. They pushed each other in all areas of the court and claimed many valuable points.
However, the game kept swinging between them all the way to final moments. This cliff-hanging tussle ended when the Malaysian shuttlers placed a tight yet favourable margin of 22-20.
The following game injected more thrill in the contest as the opposing team showed a strong character despite of a huge blow. The partnership of Lukasz and Wojciech looked at its best in this segment of the showdown.
Both Polish shuttlers did not show any sign of bewilderment and raised their chances of success by ruling the court in first half of the set. They continued playing flawless badminton in latter part of the game and swept the table with an overwhelming score
of 21-19.
With this 1-1 match score position, both teams were locked in a tough war of survival. The spectators were expecting a neck and neck contest but it turned a one-sided affair. The Malaysian shuttlers proved themselves superior technically and tactically.
At first, they mounted pressure by registering a mountainous figure of 11 and then wrapped this showdown in a favourable manner with 21-14 margin. With this win, they setup their next clash with Danny Bawa Chrisnanta-Zhao Jiang Terry Yeo in pre quarter-finals
of Thailand Open.
