The Rosanero President has revealed his plans for the future, with the former Siena manager at the helm of affairs at the Eagles.
President Maurizio Zamparini has confirmed Giuseppe Sannino as the new head coach of Palermo, and insists that the new manager will lead the team into a new era.
Although, Sannino has not confirmed the appointment, the Aquile boss is already claiming that the former Siena chief is now coach of the Eagles.
Zamparini insisted that the time has come for the team to enter a new era of its existence in Serie A, and stated that the process will start with the new coach creating a new team for the next season.
The Rosanero President went on to state that the club will not set a target for a specific position in the league, but insisted that the focus will be on developing a unit that has the ability to exhibit a lot of quality in their
game.
While talking to Giornale di Sicilia, the Italian businessman said:
“I’ll ask Sannino to create a team so that we can open up a new era. There will be no specific target, we could even finish in tenth place, but I want him to build a team that plays football.”
Sannino is not the only acquisition from the Robur, as the manager will also be joined by Siena’s sporting director Giorgio Perinetti.
Zamparini insisted that the decision to hire Perinetti as the sporting director of the Eagles was taken with a belief that the new executive will boost the organisation and discipline at the club.
The President stated that there is ample evidence to show from their last season that the team needs a boost in discipline, and insisted that the new director can provide considerable help to the Rosanero in that respect.
“I expect Perinetti to give us some organisation, experience and serenity. We were lacking in those areas this term.”
Palermo went through three coaching changes this season, including Stefano Pioli, Devis Mangia and Bortolo Mutti, and finished their campaign at the 16th spot in the Serie A standings.
