To quote him--Yes...Bill Clinton was the only President since Lyndon Johnson (another Democrat) to balance the Budget and even have a surplus. If Bill can do it, so can Barack! And Lord knows this will never happen under a Republican President because, since Nixon, it never has!

Research says Johnson was the first to start raiding Social Security to cover Viet Nam expenses. Clinton did the same but was more creative in his accounting practices.

I'm of the opinion that we've not had an actual balanced budget since long before LBJ. Also It's Congress that is supposed to be balancing the budget not the President. Congress is the only one who can do line item altering of the budget. Frankly Congress hasn't been doing their job for years. The President can only sign or veto the budget. And the President is extremely reluctant to veto because of all the problems it can cause.

What say you?

  1. Incorrect because Nixon succeeded Johnson, so he was the last pre Clinton POTUS to balance the budget.  And I would have to look up the suggestion that LBJ ever did during the Viet Nam war.
