Zarate refused to play in UEFA Europa League, confirms Edy Reja: Serie A news
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 manager, Edy Reja, has revealed that striker, Mauro Zarate, refused to play in the club’s 6-0 win against Rabotnicki on August 18, 2011.
Zarate has sparked rumours linking him with a move away from the club and his refusal to play definitely means that he wants to leave and does not want to make himself cup bund by featuring in the competition.
The former Birmingham City star had a troublesome 2010/11 season and he was heavily criticized for his wastefulness in front of the goal. The Argentinean was a constant recipient of boos from the home fans for his dismal performances
last season.
Reja confirmed that the striker is part of his plans for the UEFA Europa League and added that the player has had several disciplinary issues in the past too.
“Zarate was the one who pulled out of that game. As far as I was concerned, he’s part of our UEFA list. It’s not the first time he has behaved this way. It seems to me he wants to leave, so perhaps didn’t want to block a transfer
by making himself cup-tied.”
The manager rejected claims of Zarate’s brother accusing him of getting personal with his client and admitted that he had no personal issues with any player and all are equal to him.
“For me, the players are all the same. His brother’s comments mean nothing to me, as Beppe Bozzo is Zarate’s agent. I can only say I don’t have it in for anyone and hearing these rumours makes me angry. I gave some guidelines to
the club, but never stated anyone had to leave."
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 manager added that there is no doubt about the striker’s talents but he needs to change his attitude to become successful. He also confirmed that it’s up to the club to decide about any disciplinary action to
be taken against the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Al-Sadd-c38355 striker.
Lazio have already signed two new strikers, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Miroslav-Klose-c26049 and Djibril Cisse, during the summer and will let Zarate leave if a decent offer comes their way.
