Zariyna to crush the competition in the Christmas Party Nights At Dundalk Stadium Handicap
The €13,000 prize money of the Christmas Party Nights At Dundalk Stadium Handicap has attracted fourteen three-year and above contestants who will try their luck over a mile, two furlongs and 150 yards at Dundalk race course on Friday, 5th October.
The assorted line-up includes those who have raced at the track before, some will race for the first time, and all have emerged from different levels. Majority has not been impressive in their recent endeavours.
The 8 to 1 shot for the race, Zariyna, has ended last in the most recent outing just after striking a back-to-back. The three-year-old bay filly had her actual campaign kick starting from the 2012 calendar.
She has been active seven times during the new season, and has won thrice out of those tries.
The M. Halford trained bagged the £7,762.50 prize money of the winner on 17th May, 2012 in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund 3YO Fillies Maiden at Gowran Park over a mile and 1 ½ furlongs.
Riding with the phenomenal world class jockey, Johnny Murtagh, the Irish bay filly got into keen pursuit of the leaders, and ranked fourth by the time last three furlongs waited to be raced over.
She superseded the challenge thrown at her inside the final furlong, and defeated Urban Ball by a head’s mark.
Coming at terms with the third position was the favourite entry of the race, An Saincheann.
Two hard compromises down the line got her the O’Briens Wines Handicap on 22nd July, 2012 at Curragh race course over a mile and two furlongs. With the final two furlongs on the horizon, the bay filly ranked fifth, heading on with drastic improvement
she edged past The Fox Tully, by just half-length.
The favourite entry was ridden by, Shane Foley.
Her last winner’s crowning was in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Handicap on 9th August, 2012 at Leopardstown over a mile and a furlong. She once again raced to success in partnership with jockey, Johnny Murtagh.
Shane Foley will guide her through the track distance today, and the duo will take on from the fourth gate.
