Zariyna to follow the precedent in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Handicap
The Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Handicap has pulled together a rather competitive line-up as each three-year and above contestant has something unique to offer. The thirteen competitors will race over a mile and a furlong on Thursday, 9th August at Leopardstown. The prize money set for the winner to take back home is, €13,000.
One of the most recently accomplished entries for the race is the three-year-old bay filly, Zariyna. The M. Halford trained raced just once during the previous season and has raced five times ever since the new season dawned.
The three-year-old responded to the second asking of the season for breaking the maiden. She went through on 17th May, 2012 in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund 3YO Fillies Maiden at Gowran Park over a mile and 1 1/2 furlong.
The Irish bay filly escaped defeat by a very narrow margin and accomplished it under the guidance of the champion of his profession, Johnny Murtagh. The pull through gave the connections the opportunity to sort out the future goals for Marju’s daughter.
Her very next stop right after the maiden was in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Handicap on 4th June, 2012 at the Naas race course over a mile and two furlongs. The favourite entry ended third as the race was won by, Lady Bennett.
The fourth outing of the season saw her failing to a sixth position in the European Breeders Fund Coolmore Stud Ulster Oaks Fillies Handicap on 23rd June, 2012 at Down Royal over a mile and 2 ½ furlongs.
Balrath Hope won the race by the margin of 2 ½ lengths.
Third handicap in row made the bay filly out of, Zariliya, go all out in the O’Briens Wines Handicap on 22nd July, 2012 at Curragh over a mile and two furlongs. The favourite entry became the mount for jockey, Shane Foley, and the two went past the wire by the margin of just half a length.
The 10 to 1 entry will be paired up with the partner in success in the maiden stakes, Johnny Murtagh, and the duo will take on from the third stall.
