The 29-year-old
winger has been linked with a move away from Manchester City this summer after it became his services were no longer required at the club.
Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle was amongst some of the Premier League sides to show interest in Wright-Phillips. He confirmed that he had been in talks with Manchester City regarding the player, but had not been able to come to an agreement because of
the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international’s high wage expectations. Talks are still going on between the two sides, and with just a few days remaining before the transfer window closes, Bolton are hoping to wrap the deal up quickly.
Bolton Wanderers are willing to pay up to £2.5million for the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775. It is now up to Wright-Phillips where he wants to go and Knight revealed he hoped the City player
would choose Bolton Wanderers. He felt Wright-Phillips would fit right in with the squad and help them improve.
Knight said while speaking to reporters:
“I wish he was signing for Bolton tomorrow, obviously, but at the moment he's a Manchester City player.
He's the sort of player we'd love to have here. It's out of my hands but if it was in my hands he'd be playing for us next week.”
Wright-Phillips watched from the stands as his side took on Bolton Wanderers in the English Premier League. Despite Manchester City’s expensive additions to the squad in the summer transfer window, the Trotters put up a more than impressive fight and the
thrilling match ended in a 3-2 win for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Mancini’s side. Knight felt their impressive display against City, who finished third on the Premier League table last season, would be important in helping Wright-Phillips decide on his future.
Knight said he believed an experienced wide player like Wright-Phillips would provide Bolton Wanderers with much needed width. He would also have a guaranteed spot in the starting squad, something he did not have last season at Manchester City; going on
to make just 18 appearances in all competitions and scoring one goal.
Knight said:
“With the type of football we try to play at Bolton, we would love him here. We try and go down the wings and get the ball out there.”
He continued:
“He's watched us on Sunday and, speaking to him after the game, it seems he was quite impressed. So, hopefully, we've turned his head a little bit.”
