Zazu and Ellafitz have revenge in mind when they take on Include Me Out in the Vanity Handicap
Though, Include Me Out will be looking to go 4 up in as many starts, when she taken on rivals in the Grade 1, $250,000 Vanity Handicap at Betfair Hollywood Park’s cushion track on 16 June, 2012, but there is one particular filly, who will be looking to even the score from the last time the two met.
The revengeful filly is the Ann and Jerome Moss owned, Zazu, who had a good trip in the Grade 2 Marjorie L. Everett Handicap over the 1 1/16 mile cushion track, but couldn’t do much in the end, as she finished a dismal fourth in the end to, Include Me Out.
Zazu hadn’t finished worse than third since finishing fifth in the Grade 1 Hollywood Starlet back in 2010, but, her last race knocked her off the placed positions, leaving her in somewhat ‘unfamiliar waters’ for the Kentucky bred filly.
This was Zazu’s only start of the new campaign, and the rust she might have gotten over the winter could have had its say in the Everett Handicap.
She hasn’t run since winning the Grade 1 Lady’s Secret Stakes back in 2011 October, but now with a race under her belt, and already familiar with the Betfair Hollywood Park’s cushion track, Zazu will be back to settle the score in the Vanity Handicap.
The daughter of Tapit, out of mare Rhumb Line by Mr. Greeley, Zazu will be facing another Everett Handicap rival in the Vanity Handicap, and that would be Bob Baffert trained, Ellafitz, who finished in second behind, Include Me Out in her last encounter.
Runs under the banner of D and E Racing, Ellafitz was doing fine this season until she met Include Me Out, who defeated her in the Grade 1 Santa Margarita Stakes and then the Grade 2 Marjorie L. Everett Handicap.
The 5-year-old Tiznow mare, started her season in great fashion, with a victory in the Paseana Handicap at Santa Anita Park on 15 January, 2012, which followed by another victory in the Grade 2 Santa Maria Stakes on 18 February, 2012.
It will be a battle between three well established females, who will look to aim Include Me Out first, and then look to outrun each other to win the Vanity Handicap.
