The former Pescara boss is quickly settled back upon his return to the capital outfit, and gave an overview on the cores of his successful footballing philosophy.
The veteran football maestro has been praised by many for the impact he had at Pescara, and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 bosses chose him to replicate his efforts at the Delfini to the Giallorossi.
Zeman replaces Luis Enrique, who tried to bring the Catalonian style of play into the club, which is primarily based on keeping possession of the ball and looking for openings in the opposition. The former Delfini boss stated that
he is not in agreement with his predecessor’s style of play and will bring his own philosophy to Roma’s game.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 manager expressed his delight upon his return to the club after thirteen years, and stated that he was glad for it as well. Zeman was giving an interview to Roma TV, and stated that his ideology was to move forward
and not waste when the ball is in their possession. He commented:
“In my football I try to eliminate pointless things, so for me a horizontal pass is futile, as it’s just loaning each other the ball. We must always try to do something that will have meaning.”
His methodology seems to be in stark contrast to that deployed by Luis Enrique, and stated that he understood where Enrique was coming from, but he differed in opinion. He said that instead of waiting for a move to develop, he
expected his players to be more proactive in their approach. Commenting on the issue he mentioned:
“I am quicker, in the sense that with possession you also give your opponents time to get settled in defence. It’s much more difficult to break down a defence that is closed rather than catching them unprepared. I also see long-range
shots as rather desperate. In my type of football, the striker must receive service.”
He considered keeping possession as “futile” and went on to state that his style of play dictated that they do not change methodology when playing away from home. Pescara, under Zeman’s regime, managed to score the same number
of goals when at home and when away.
