The AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 head coach has faith in his team’s ability to compete for the Serie A Championship; while reflecting on the progression of his training regimen.
The Giallorossi faithful will love the optimism flowing from their new head coach, who has yet again stated his intentions with the capital outfit. He has already stated that the club will be looking to impose their dominance on
the domestic circuit as well as the European front, and the former Pescara boss went on to comment that the capital outfit will be looking to compete for the Scudetto in the upcoming season.
This new found optimism is refreshing for the team and the fans, who have seen their beloved club finish in the seventh place of the Serie A. However, there will certainly be many cynics who would feel as if they have heard it
all before. The appointment of Luis Enrique was supposed to herald the dawn of a new era at the club; which culminated in a forgettable season.
Zeman, however, has great pedigree and comes on the back of guiding Pescara from the realms of Serie B into the Serie A. His team played enterprising football, and was filled with youngsters.
The former Delfini boss was talking to Corriere dello Sport, and in his interview he was quizzed on the possibility of aiming for the Scudetto with the club. He confidently answered:
"Can Roma win the Scudetto? Yes, I think so."
The veteran tactician went on to comment on the policies governing the club regarding transfer acquisition. The Giallorossi head coach remarked that there was potential to improve as a team and he was a believer in the quality
of a squad; he commented:
"We have plenty of players in our squad, but it's about quality rather than quantity for me. We can still improve the team.”
Zeman reflected that he was pleased with the level that the players were operating at, and remarked:
"We are halfway through pre-season and the lads aren't completely accustomed to my methods yet. They have suffered a bit, but you have to learn to suffer in football. I'm pleased with the progress we've made so far."
