Zebina Daria earns Women’s 100m backstroke title: Day one – 2012 Ukraine Summer Cup
Zebina Daria of Cues earned gold medal of the Women’s 100m backstroke on first day of the 2012 Ukraine Summer Cup in Kharkiv on Monday, May 7.
Daria, who acquired gold medals of the 200m and 400m freestyle earlier at the tournament, dictated terms to her challengers in the 100m backstroke event.
With her stupendous skills and determination, she smothered her opponents by claiming gold medal of the discipline with the timing of 1 minute and 01.34 seconds.
Her title-claiming effort remained nearly one second faster from Vac Alina of Meadow, who settled on the finishing end as silver medallist by posting a time of 1 minute and 02.41 seconds.
Third position of the discipline was secured by Gurzhy Anna of DPR, who remained nearly two body lengths behind and posted a time of 1 minute and 04.50 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Glavnik Irina of Cues, who was just 0.08 seconds slower and submitted a time of 1 minute and 04.58 seconds for fourth position.
Irina was followed by Marina Kolesnikova of CLC, who secured fifth position of the event by reporting a time of 1 minute and 06.46 seconds.
Moments later, Daria emerged on the starting blocks for the final of 200m backstroke. Daria demonstrated her stupendous efforts and seized the title of the discipline by touching the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 11.31 seconds.
Her effort remained nearly seven seconds ahead of Humeniuk Hope, who earned silver medal of the event by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 18.46 seconds.
Hope was trailed by Gurzhy Anna of DPR, who reached the medal rostrum for bronze medal by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 20.53 seconds.
Anna was followed by Zubenko Anna of CLC, who finished fourth in the event with the timing of 2 minutes and 22.97 seconds. She was trailed by Marina Kolesnikova, who reported an effort of 2 minutes and 23.83 seconds and secured fifth position of the event.
Furthermore, the position holders were awarded medals after the conclusion of all listed events while the session ended after the event.
