Zebra Finch?

Question

Today, my daughter was playing with her neighbors and found a finch flying in the air. She said it was flying and falling, and so she picked it up. As she held it, the finch fell asleep. She asked me if we could keep it.

If its a zebra finch you are fine in keeping it, if though its a wild species of finch then its illegal to keep any wild bird.

i have zebra finches...keep it until it is healthy but make sure it is not carrying any diseases

I'm not positive, but I think you should keep it. Do some research first, get a book on it. That's what I did when finding out if the bird I wanted to adopt would be a good choice. So.... go for it; it'll be a good experience!

What ever it is, take it to a vet that specialize in birds and have it checked out.  Especially if you want to keep it.  Healthy finches just do not just let people pick them up and handle them.  It's not within their nature.   The vet can also help you identify the species.

I would take it to the pet store for some info or a avien vet. If i was to keep the bird .. i would buy another finch

finches are geat pets, they are low maintenance and very friendly. but definitely get it a little friend!
