  1. Nearest relatives are the horse and the donkey. The genus is

equus, whether they can communicate is something only an expert in the field could tell

    Hippotigris burchelli

A  Plains zebra,    does not have any relation seemingly to

    a Hippo

  2. OK so you watched the film "STRIPES"

  3. The zebra and horse are both equines.  They can both communicate with each other just fine (if introduced to each other carefully...otherwise zebras might kill a horse).

Rather like dogs and wolves are able to communicate with each other just fine.

The offspring of a zebra stallion/horse mare cross are called "zorse."  The zebra mare/horse stallion crosses are called "hebra."  People have even breed "zonkeys, or zebrass."  (zebra/donkey cross)

Some of the zebra/horse crosses have produce fertile offspring!

You can Google the words, but here is a link for you:

  4. Zebra's and Horses have different numbers of chromosomes. They can interbreed, but the resulting offspring cannot reproduce. They usually, look like a horse in the front and have zebra stripes on the back.

I don't know if they can communicate. But I think they can. I've seen them in the same pen with horses at a petting zoo, before.

    I hope this helps.

  5. If i am not mistaken then the zebra is from the same family as  the hipopotamus. Although they look like  horses they are not from the same species.Do a bit of research you will be suprised
