"None of you people are even reading my question correctly. If you read the question, you'd realize I'm putting on here what the Saudi embassy requires for marriage of saudi men to forgein women and pointing out that the Qur'an doesn't prohibit Muslims from marrying other Muslims."

You didn't leave us time to even respond before you closed your question.

I understand your question. I wrote that the law is based on culture not Islam, which is the truth. Many of the laws here are like that. I agree with you that Muslims should be allowed to easily marry Muslims, but not all the laws around the world are Islamic.

Now about the requirements for marriage. What the embassy requires is much more than what you listed. What's required by the Saudi government before even talking to the embassy is much more!!! It's a rough process. It takes most couples at least a year to get their marriage approved and get the wife into Saudi Arabia.

  1. I disagree with interfiering with the life of individuals, however, although I disagree with the way its dealt with, I do understand why such laws are there, and I think the asker should as well.

Theres a huge problem with unmarried people in Saudi, men and women, and the costs of marriage and so on... and such laws are an attempt to :

1- Help the population get married ( to eachother, and I disagree with the way in which they want to achieve that, but I understand their idea )

2- Theres many young people studying outside of Saudi, so they want to protect them and make them believe its not easy to bring them into Saudi, so that they dont take marriage lightly and dont just marry a girl they  meet, as young are known to be, not sure what word to use here, but the young are known to be "outgoing" and unaware of consequences sometimes, so they make it harder so that they do it only if they really want it....

Thats why its much easier to get a permit if you're above 30.

Saying there shouldnt be any care of the citizens is obviously incorrect. Saying there should be no regulations whatsoever is like saying every Muslim has the right to do Hajj, therefore allow 30 + million into Makkah each year and watch diseases spread, fires, and disasters happenning..

Yes a Muslim should be allowed to marry any good Muslim.

Yes a Muslim should be allowed into Makkah.

But the way the asker ( in the previous question ) put it, was like, asking why doesnt Saudi just open the borders. Things arent that simple and dont work that way.

  2. although like I said before.. I know many foreign women, christian and others married to saudi men..

The time it takes to get approved is different for each person.. Some Ive seen takes years.. others the first try and Wham! they are approved...

Also I think SaudiArabia is a very tribal based country.. they like to keep their culture pure and actually maybe want to limit the amount of foreign influence that comes into this country.. And wives area  great influence on the future of the country as they are the mothers of the future and as such, they influence the upbringing and raising of their children... An american mother will raise her kids different from a Japanese mother, etc etc.. so probably SaudiArabia wants to keep its citizens pure.. This is just speculation on my point, but it could be a factor here...
