Zenit KAZAN defeats Remat ZALAU comprehensively – Volleyball news
A Pool B match of the 2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League-Men took place recently in the Russian city of Kazan.
The two teams that locked horns together were the home team of Zenit KAZAN and the Romanian squad of Remat ZALAU.
The match between the two sides did not take long to reach its close as the Russians were able to seal a win by making a clean sweep over their opponents. Not only was the KAZAN squad able to win the match in three back-to-back sets, they won each frame
by a comfortable margin as they were able to dominate the court for the majority of the time.
By the time that the match had ended, the scoreboard reflected a KAZAN win at the following final set scores, 25-21, 25-20 and 25-20.
The coach of the Russian side, Vladimir Alekno, expressed himself in the following words at the press conference that was held after the match, “It is not easy to motivate my players when you play an opponent that is not that strong. However, they had to
fulfil their task especially as we want to finish first in our Pool and the best starting six will be lined-up for the match with VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN.”
On the other hand, the coach of the losing team, Mariusz Sordyl, shared his views by giving the following statements, “We played against the best team included in the starting field of the Champions League and I asked my boys to play with all of their hearts.
In some sections of the game they managed to do this but Zenit is definitely too strong for us.”
The player who was able to end up as the top scorer of the match belonged to Remat. Peter Nagy earned the title of the top scorer by putting up a total of 20 points for his team. On the other hand, the most active player on the Zenit squad was Maxim Mikhaylov
who was able to keep the spirits of his side up by adding 15 points.
