One of the semi-finals of 2012 CEV Champions League will be played between Zenit Kazan, the men’s top volleyball team in Russia based in the city of Kazan, and Italy’s Trentino PlanetWin 365 this Sunday.
The Polish city Lodz will set up the field of play for crucial match that will help the better squad to advance to the final match of the tournament. The final four round of the CEV Champions League will cover its length from March 17 to 18.
On the first day the two semi-finals will be played, whereas the final match will be played on the second day. Moreover, the losers of the semi-finals will also meet in the classification match for third position on the same day.
Following a wonderful performance Russian team pocketed the ticket to final four of the tournament last week. Kazan played two matches against Germany’s VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN in the Playoffs 6 and clinched success in both matches. Russia squad played one match
at home and then travelled to Germany in order to appear in the second fixture. Under the leadership of Head Coach Vladimir Alekno, the Russian hotshots demonstrated stellar performance and finished the Playoffs 6 with final score of 2-0.
After Russia’s splendid victory in the quarter-finals, Coach Vladimir stated, “I am satisfied with the result. Our goal remains to seize the trophy as we want to take that crown from TRENTINO Volley. I still have to congratulate my team.”
On the other hand, the Italian team Trentino PlanetWin 365 performed up to the mark and clawed its way to the final four. Trentino reached the final four after a tough competition as the team dropped its first match of the quarter-final stage to Lube Banca
Marche Macerata in Macerata. Nonetheless, Trentino asserted its supremacy in front of the home audience in the next match. The team put up a combined effort and managed to hold off Macerata for straight set victory in three sets.
MACERATA head coach Alberto Giuliani said, “TRENTINO deserved this win and the pass for the final four because they set the tempo of the game right from the start.”
The real challenge for both semi-finalist teams is coming up on Saturday. Both teams will be playing away from home as the final four of the 2012 CEV Champions League will be hosted by Poland. The roster of Trentino will feature Bari Andrea as libero, middle
blockers Birarelli Emanuele, Brinkman Steve, Burg Sthaler Matteo, wing-spikers Della Lunga Dore, Juantorena Portuondo Osmany, and setter Nelli Gabriele.
On the other hand, Zenit Kazan will rely on set of middle blockers that include Vovnenko Dmitry, Apalikov Nikolay, Demakov Ivan, and Volkov Alexander. Furthermore, the Russian setter Vermiglio Valerio is known for his speed on the net. He not only helps
the attacker to attempt spikes but also contributes to team’s score via his tricky bump passes. All eyes are now set on the clock which is ticking down quickly. The two teams will come face to face on Saturday and only the better side will be able to catch
the limelight.
