Vyacheslav Malafeev, Zenit St. Petersburg shot-stopper, has expressed his frustration on the 2-2 draw against Spartak Moscow in the latest round of Russian Premier League. Zenit managed to retain the top spot despite their latest effort ending in a stalemate
at Luzhniki stadium.
Malafeev highlighted that Zenit need to find consistency in the results, following their latest draw. The Russian national is of the view that Zenit may lose their title hopes if they fail to kick-start winning in the remaining matches of the season.
Spartak Moscow came from behind to equalize against the Bomzhi. Malafeev has lamented the team defence and insisted that Zenit defence could have done better against the opposition strikers.
“In the beginning of the game the hosts were more attacking; they created a series of dangerous moments in front of our goal. There was a lot of dangerous counter-attacks, and one of them ended in an own goal. After the game with Porto, we were tired and

Malafeev went on to deny that he is scared of the Brazilian national and admitted that Spartak players tried to foul him on a couple of occasions. Welliton was booked during the second period of the match.
“The opponent played very simply, passing the ball to their attackers, who in return acted well in pressurising us. We must not forget that in the matches with this team in Moscow there are always a plenty of goals scored and some controversial decisions.”
