Luciano Spalletti has taken full responsibility of the disappointing performances in recent games and has urged from his side to win against FC Krasnodar
Though the defending Russian Premier League champions, Zenit St. Petersburg, made a swift start to their league campaign this season, they failed to extend their decent run after winning one game out of last six league meetings.
Consequently, the St. Petersburg club have dropped down to the 8th spot on the league table after suffering two defeats and recording three draws in less than two months domestically.
Zenit, meanwhile, are yet to claim a win in the UEFA Champions League this season after losing their opening two group stage matches against Spanish outfit, Malaga CF, and Italian giants, AC Milan, respectively.
Luciano Spalletti has been criticized for the team’s questionable defensive display in the continental tournament as they conceded six goals in the opening two European fixtures.
And while the Russian media and Zenit’s fans are asking the Italian tactician to resign from the managerial position, Spalletti has insisted that the Meshki have every right to replace him if things go like that in near future.
If speculations are to be believed, Harry Redknapp is the favourite to replace the former AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 coach. The former Portsmouth manager is reportedly interested in working outside England after testing his fate in the English Premier
League for so many years.
“I have worked in four clubs in more than four years. And believe me, when you work in a club for more than 4 years, there are ups and downs in your career. But whenever I have been in difficult situations, I have not raised my
hands and continued to work.”
“The club has every right to observe my work, draw conclusions, and a rating in a process of development. The club can make any decision regarding any employee including me. The club needs to go forward irrespective of the players
and the coach," the Russian Cup winner was quoted as saying.
Spalletti urged his side to improve defensively, insisting that they need to win their next game against FC Krasnodar in order to alter the situation.
