Zenit St. Petersburg still have a chance to secure a place in the UEFA Europa League if they win their last group stage game in the UEFA Champions League against AC Milan on Tuesday.
Former coach and Zenit’s athletic director, Boris Rappoport, has shared expectations of the upcoming European meeting between the two teams and urged Luciano Spalletti to help the Russian outfit in securing a European berth to
please their fans.
Spalletti has recently being criticized for the Russian Premier League club’s below par performances in the European tournament which led to their shocking elimination from the competition.
Rappoport reminded Spalletti of the St. Petersburg club’s memorable cup win in 2008 and urged the Italian tactician to extend his reputation of a top European manager by winning the Europa League.
However, he admitted that it will be a difficult task to win against the Italian giants on the away turf.
“It is important for Spalletti to help his side with which he has been working for three years. He needs to motivate his side after highlighting them the importance of the match.”
