Zenit St. Petersburg striker, Aleksandr Kerzhakov, has assured the fans of a quick return after his recent injury set-back, highlighting that that he is recovering well and working out hard to get back onto the pitch.
Kerzhakov, Zenit's leading goal scorer, has not featured in any of his club’s matches since the league tie against Spartak Moscow at Luzhniki stadium after sustaining an ankle injury during the second half of the league match.
The UEFA Cup winner lamented his physical condition, revealing that he is itching to get back on the field and eyeing an early return.
"I am feeling better, much better than before. I do not want to specify any comeback dates but hopefully I will be able to play at the end of this year.” The promising striker was quoted as saying.
The Russian national has missed out the mouthwatering UEFA Champions League group stage game against Shakhtar Donetsk while also missing out on the last four league meetings due to his recent injury.
A win against the Moles has helped Zenit claim the second spot on the group table. Kerzhakov insisted that Zenit have more work to do in order to reach the knock out stages of the Champions League and reiterated his desire to top
the group table.
The former Dynamo Moscow player expressed his satisfaction on his recovery and insisted that he will continue his blistering form upon his return in the later part of the season. He has already netted 17 goals for Zenit in the
current season.
The promising striker warned his teammates against complacency, urging them to practice hard for the next round in the domestic championship. The Russian Cup winner went on to highlight the importance of the upcoming league game
against Anzhi Makhachkala and the European meeting against Apoel FC.
