Zenit St. Petersburg head coach, Luciano Spalletti, has hailed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Andrei-Arshavin-c5771 after the Russian striker scored his third goal of the ongoing Russian Premier League campaign against Rubin Kazan.
The Meshki managed to draw the latest league tie 2-2 against the Kazan-based club on the away turf. The latest draw stretched their unbeaten run to nineteen games.
The fact that Arshavin’s late strike salvaged a point for the St. Petersburg club pleases Spalletti, who believes that the on loan forward is getting close to full fitness ahead of the crunch league tie against Spartak Moscow.
Arshavin, who returned to Petrovsky stadium from Arsenal during the winter transfer window, has scored 3 goals in 8 appearances.
Spalletti revealed that Arshavin is proving his commitment to the team ethos and tipped him to score more goals in the remaining matches of the ongoing season. He added that Zenit are starting to see the best of the 30-year-old,
who struggled to claim first team action at the Emirates stadium.
The Russian tactician went on to admit that Arshavin made the right move to return to Russia on loan and tipped him to become the Russian national team’s captain for the upcoming Euro 2012.
“Arshavin has tremendous skills because he works so hard. Arshavin sometimes makes a mistake and I think such a player should not be complacent. He needs to find consistency in his performances.” The former Udinese coach was quoted
as saying.
News in Russia suggests that the former Zenit manager, d**k Advocaat, will resign from his managerial position from the Russian national team after the European tournament. Spalletti assured the fans of his stay, revealing that
he has no intention to replace Advocaat at the moment.
“It will be a great honour to coach Russia but I think we should not underestimate Leonid Slutsky, Kurban Berdyev and Yuri Krasnozhan. I am happy at Zenit and not thinking about anything else.” Spalletti concluded.
