Zenit St. Petersburg’s Luciano Spalletti looking to sign FC Braga ace Pizzi – Russian Premier League
Luciano Spalletti, Zenit St. Petersburg manager, is considering a move for the Portuguese international striker, Pizzi, from FC Braga. The promising striker’s contract runs out in the June of 2013.
Spalletti is keeping tabs on the 21-year-old, who is currently loaned out from FC Braga to Paços de Ferreira. Though discreet talks are at initial stages, Zenit could be the frontrunners to land the player.
With http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aleksandr-Kerzhakov-c4569 still recovering from an injury, Spalletti does not have much firepower to use the attacking style of play that is his hallmark. The Italian tactician would be considering a move for the right-footed striker as a long-term prospect
for the club. Zenit are looking to close the gap on CSKA Moscow, who are currently at the top of the Russian premier league, by adding another striker to their ranks.
Luis Miguel Afonso Fernandes, commonly known as Pizzi, started his senior career at Grupo Desportivo de Bragança in 2007. He joined FC Braga in 2008 but the lack of regular playing time forced him to move to Ribeirao and Covilha on loan deals. In 2010, he
moved to Pacos Ferreira on yet another loan deal, where he managed to feature in 41 matches and scored 7 goals.
Pizzi has represented http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984 on youth levels, U19 and U21, but he is yet to feature for the senior national team. However, with the forward having excellent vision, versatility to play on the wing and sizzling pace, he can surely make a name for himself
on international arena.
Zenit are reportedly tying up a deal that might eventually fall in the region of 16 million Euros. With money not being an issue, it seems only a matter of time before the deal is completed. Zenit will have to take on a host of European clubs for the player’s
signature but with the likes of Stade Rennes and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lille-OSC-c39800 unlikely to cough up 16 million for an unknown entity, the player is as good as Zenit’s.
The prospect of Braga receiving millions and a chance for the player to appear in the UEFA Champions League can definitely lure away the Pacos http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luciano-c22574
Spalletti’s tutelage.
