Sergei Yeremeyev
believes Luciano Spalletti can lead Zenit St. Petersburg to UEFA Champions League glory should Gazprom grant him a transfer budget.
News in Russia earlier this month had suggested that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luciano-c22574 Spalletti was furious over the lack of transfers made available by Zenit St. Petersburg owners over the years.
The former FC Yunit Samara player, Sergei Yeremeyev, has supported Spalletti’s stance and revealed that Gazprom, owners of the club, need to agree with the Italian tactician by providing him with a necessary transfer budget.
Zenit have consistently been inactive during the previous two transfer windows. The Bomzhi have only signed Domenico Criscito from Genoa CFC since last winter.
Yeremeyev revealed that the Italian tactician, who has led the Russian outfit to back-to-back Russian Premier League titles, has what it takes to be a good coach and hailed the former Udinese manager's role at the club.
The Russian national revealed that Spalletti, whose contract expires at the end of 2012, is rightly looking for new acquisitions, with news suggesting that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danko-Lazovic-c10188 are likely to leave the Russian outfit in
the upcoming winter transfer window.
Yeremeyev believes that Zenit need to find quick replacements if they are to progress from the knock-out stages of the UEFA Champions League.
“Over the past two seasons, the team had enough matches against strong opponents in European competition. Zenit have long been accustomed to players of high standards that allowed them to add stability.
“From the goalkeeper position to the front line, they have looked absolutely reliable, over the recent time. But now they are having aged players in their squad, who are less reliable. So they need to add a couple of player to
keep up their good work in Europe.” Yeremeyev was quoted as saying.
Yeremeyev is of the belief that Spalletti has not shown any intention to disrespect his contract, and Gazprom should provide what the Coppa Italia winner wants as a gesture of little appreciation.
