Zenit St. Petersburg mega bug signing, Hulk, is expecting the Russian Premier League club to become one of the top European clubs in the near future despite starting this season’s UEFA Champions League campaign on a low.
There is little arguing to the statement that the St. Petersburg club has had a decent European campaign last term as they recorded memorable wins against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 on their way to the pre-quarter
finals of the tournament.
However, Luciano Spalletti’s men are yet to record a win in the European tournament this time around after suffering back-to-back defeats in their opening two group stage matches against Malaga CF and AC Milan respectively.
Hulk, who joined Zenit from FC Porto, revealed that he talked to head coach, Spalletti, before completing a reported 60 million Euros move to Russia.
The Brazilian was told about the rich history of the club by the manager. However, he insisted that now is the time the Meshki need to get one step ahead in the European competition.
“Of course, it is important to win in the league but I think that our goal for the season should be to do well in the Champions League. I know we have lost two matches but I still think that the team have all the qualities and
capabilities to get to the next round.” The Primeira Liga winner was quoted as saying.
Speaking on the controversy-hit Igor Denisov, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hulk-c16436 urged the 28-year-old to return to Petrovsky stadium after helping his national team in maintaining hundred percent record at the World Cup qualifiers.
“When I read about Denisov’s situation in the Brazilian media, I became upset. But now I have been told that the situation is gradually improving. Hopefully Denisov will be back soon because I think he can help us to achieve positive
results.” he concluded.
Denisov is due an apology for his unprofessional behaviour after the central midfielder threatened Zenit to increase his wages.
