Radchenko believes that Zenit St. Petersburg are favourites to win the UEFA Champions League tie against a rebuilt Italian club
There is little arguing to the statement that Zenit St. Petersburg are struggling with their form and confidence after losing a set of matches in different competitions. The defending league champions managed to win just two games
from the last eight meetings.
The Meshki are yet to win a league match since their 3-0 win over Mordovia Saransk on the away turf. Luciano Spalletti’s men are still looking for their first win on European front, after suffering a shocking 3-0 defeat against
Malaga CF at Stadion La Rosaleda last month.
Zenit recorded a 1-1 draw in the latest round of Russian Premier League action against Lokomotiv Moscow at Petrovsky stadium. The St. Petersburg club played with a man down for most of the second-half after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-Dzagoev-c4249 picked
up a straight red card.
However, former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Racing-c40298 Santander striker, Dmitri Radchenko, believes that the St. Petersburg club’s weak performances in the Russian championship will not affect their UEFA Champions League campaign this term.
As things stand, Zenit are at the bottom spot on the group table beneath Malaga, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/RSC-Anderlecht-c40394 and AC Milan. The St. Petersburg club will now play their second group stage game against the Rossoneri at home.
And while the Italian giants have sold some of their star players including http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gennaro-Gattuso-c14525 this summer, Radchenko is of the view that Zenit
can trouble the Italians.
Zenit, on the other hand, bolstered their attacking ranks by signing the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 during the summer transfer window.
"We can say Milan have changed. Ibrahimovic left the team, who was their main striker. I am sure that the Italian will re-establish their European reputation in the near future. The game will be crucial.” The Russian national was
quoted as saying.
Radchenko has urged the defending champions to win the upcoming European tie, saying that Zenit have the best chance to claim a memorable win against the Milan-based club this season.
