Sergei Silkin urged Dynamo Moscow to fight for the UEFA Champions League spot after suffering a defeat against Zenit St. Petersburg at Petrovsky stadium.
Dynamo Moscow were fortunate enough to retain the second-spot in the Russian Premier League despite suffering a 2-1 defeat in their latest league tie against Zenit St. Petersburg at Petrovsky stadium.
Though the Moscow-based club managed to score a goal after conceding two goals during the first half, they failed to find the equalizer despite playing with a numerical advantage on the pitch.
The Dinamiki played much of the second period with a man advantage after Zenit’s midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Konstantin-Zyryanov-c21312, received his marching order on the 55th minute.
In the aftermath of the outcome, Sergei Silkin has hailed Zenit, admitting that the Meshki deserved to win the Russian top division this season. Silkin admitted that the St. Petersburg club worked so hard for this moment and they
are amongst the top Russian teams.
“I would like to congratulate Zenit who deserved to win the title. I think the game was influenced by the substitution we made after our centre back got injured. And when the new defender entered the game, we conceded two goals.
“We played well, but were low in confidence after losing a key defender. We had many chanced but we failed to implement them. Unfortunately, in the second half we were lost in the pile. But I have to agree that Zenit were stronger.”
The former Dinamo Minsk player was quoted as saying.
Silkin went on to lament the latest defeat against the St. Petersburg club, admitting that they failed to take advantage of the numerical advantage. He added that the White-blues would have won the match had they taken all their
goal scoring chances.
Though the Dinamiki have retained the second-spot in the league, at least for now, they are equal on points with CSKA Moscow. Silkin urged his side to win the remaining matches of the ongoing campaign if they are to play in the
UEFA Champions League next season.
Speaking on the upcoming game against Spartak Moscow, Silkin urged his team to alter the situation.
