The Brazilian striker has lamented the team's UEFA Champions League exit, but assured the fans of winning the Europa League
The defending Russian Premier League champions, Zenit St. Petersburg, claimed a last gasp qualification to the UEFA Europa League after winning their final group stage match of the UEFA Champions League against AC Milan at San
Siro earlier this month.
The St. Petersburg club secured an automatic qualification in the Europa League after claiming 3rd spot on their respective group table.
Hulk, who joined the Russian outfit for reportedly 60 million Euros fee from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 this summer, has insisted that Zenit have all the ingredients to become the European champions.
The 26-year-old urged his teammates to try and win the European tournament, saying that he moved to an unfamiliar league not because of money but to win medals and glowing trophies.
The Brazilian striker, who scored a goal in the Champions League in Zenit’s 2-3 defeat against the Milan-based club at Petrovsky stadium back in November, admitted that his side disappointed the fans after a series of below par
performances in the cup competition.
“We started the European campaign badly. Consequently, we failed to catch up with the rest of the teams in our group. We would have progressed to the knock-out stages had we played the group stages with harmony and dedication.”
“The Russian league is getting stronger with the passage of time. The competition is very high and there is no doubt why famous players are coming to this league every year. Russia have the best pitches especially for those who
like me come from the southern countries. But one has to adjust in the cold.” The Portuguese Cup winner was quoted as saying.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991 barely after six months since joining the St. Petersburg club.
However, the former Tokyo Verdy player denied the reports after saying that he is not likely to leave despite a recent bust up with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luciano-c22574 Spalletti.
