Sergei Vedeneyev has urged the Russian Premier League club to step up in the race to win the league title after leapfrogging CSKA Moscow this season.
The defending Russian Premier League champions, Zenit St. Petersburg, do not have much margin to drop anymore points on the league table as they are trailing CSKA Moscow by three points with just four games remaining until the
end of the campaign.
Instead, they are hoping to leapfrog the Moscow-based club again this season. The St. Petersburg club are unbeaten since suffering a 1-0 defeat against Rubin Kazan back in March.
Their 2-2 draw against Kuban Krasnodar would have surely helped Leonid Slutsky’s men to wave up some pressure in the race to reclaim the league title after five years.
However, anything can happen in the last four league meetings given that Luciano Spalletti’s men had earlier made it possible after overtaking CSKA during the last round of the domestic championship last season.
Sergei Vedeneyev has urged Zenit to sign classy players this summer in order to supply killer balls to Hulk and Danny Miguel. However, the Russian International did not recommend any player for the purpose.
“I think Zenit will progress and get better after signing support for Hulk and Danny.”
“http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-c10193 cannot score goals in every game. Nobody can. And without both these players, it looks like the team will not perform. So, there should be signings in order to help these players.”
“There were times when the opponent did not know which player to mark. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vladimir-Bystrov-c36328 used to make it difficult for players to understand.”
“Zenit needs to bring offensive players into the team. They have qualified for Champions League and now they need experienced players.” The Soviet Top League winner was quoted as saying.
News in Russian media have linked a host of top European players with the Russian outfit this summer including Fulham striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dimitar-Berbatov-c11254.
The Bulgarian International, who has scored 13 goals in 30 league appearances this season, wants a way out of the London club given that he wants more first team action.
