Zenith Surround Sound Help Please?

I have a Zenith surround sound system. It's 5.1 Channels. It seems when i put on a DVD and change the DVD audio to 5.1 channel audio, the voices in the DVD don't go though the speakers. I have a button on the remote for XTS-1 XTS-2 and XTS-3. Also i can switch on XTS Pro. I also have an audio button that changes it from bypass, hall, theater-1, and also i looks like PLII Music, PLII Movie, and PLII Matrix. Does anyone know how to get 5.1 channel audio to work through this?

There might be  a input selector switch: DVD, VCR, SAT/CABLE, V-AUX

make sure your Zenith is set on DVD to play the output of your dvd player. the Reciver(Zenith) should be connected to the DVD player via cable.
