Vyacheslav Malafeev expects the upcoming Russian Premier League tie against CSKA Moscow to play a part in deciding the league title.
Zenit St. Petersburg goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vyacheslav-Malafeev-c36502, still expects the upcoming Russian Premier League tie against CSKA Moscow to play a big part in deciding the league title despite the contrasting forms of the two teams.
Luciano Spalletti’s side moved 11 points ahead of their closest rival, CSKA, after winning their latest league tie 1-0 against Lokomotiv Moscow at Lokomotiv stadium. They have won their last two matches, while the Armeytsy have
failed to win in the last three outings.
With six league games left to play, Zenit are atop the league table with a staggering 77 points.
Zenit have made a habit hitting form during the title run-ins, and Malafeev revealed that the entire squad has worked hard in their quest to retain the league title this season.
When Malafeev sustained a shoulder injury back in December, ruling him out for a month, it looked like the Russian outfit will struggle during the third league round. However, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yuri-Zhevnov-c37682 stepped up in his absence.
The prolific shot-stopper revealed that Zenit have a couple of tough fixtures left in the calendar. However he assured the fans of winning the remaining matches and urged his teammates to win the upcoming crunch league tie against
the Moscow-based club.
Malafeev revealed that CSKA will play the upcoming match offensively because they need all three points to trim down the gap from the top.
“Each game is important now. I think if we win on Saturday, our chances to be the champions will be higher. They will find it difficult to catch up with us given the number of remaining matches.
"CSKA are experiencing problems at the moment but we need to be careful against their attackers on Saturday.” The UEFA Super Cup winner was quoted as saying.
Malafeev warned his team against complacency and added that they need to claim more points from the remaining matches of the ongoing season if they are to lift the league title for the third time in their history.
