Zerlynn Tiang  dominates Girls 100m butterfly heats – MILO National Schools Swimming Championships
Zerlynn Tiang of ACJC dominated the qualification round of 100m butterfly in Division-A of Girls 16-19 Year Olds age category at the 53rd MILO National Schools Swimming Championships in Singapore on April 25.
The 16-year-old Tiang stayed considerably ahead of her challengers from the start of the race and with her unrelenting efforts, she paved her way to the finishing wall as top contender for gold medal.
Her immaculate effort remained almost 7 metres ahead of her following swimmer as she posted a time of 1 minute and 03.57 seconds.
With her phenomenal efforts, she enjoyed a lead of almost seven seconds over Boon Yin Annis Loy of TJC, who secured second best qualification spot of the race by submitting a time of 1 minute and 10.38 seconds.
The third best qualifying position was secured by h*i Min Anissa Lye of RI, who remained nearly 1.50 seconds behind and ended her swim with an effort of 1 minute and11.92 seconds.
Lye was trailed by her teammate, Jia Le Isabel See, who was 5.11 seconds apart and surfaced on the finishing end as fourth best qualifying swimmer with the time of 1 minute and 17.03 seconds.
Subsequently, h*i Yu Koh of RI acquired the top qualification spot of the 200m Individual Medley (IM) in the same category with the timing of 2 minutes and 29.25 seconds.
With her nerve-wrecking form, she remained nearly eleven seconds ahead of Li Wen Cherie Sim of HCI, who tapped the wall for second finest qualifying position with the timing of 2 minutes and 40.63 seconds.
Third position of the discipline was obtained by Ting Yi Chan, who was 2.40 seconds away from her former finisher and clocked a time of 2 minutes and 43.03 seconds.
Chan was chased by Min Min Ng of ACJC, who remained considerably slower from her preceding swimmer and qualified into the playoff by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 58.33 seconds.
Furthermore, these finalists will face each other in their respective playoffs where the top three finishers of every event will be invited on the victory stand for medals and accolades at the medals ceremony of the championship.
