Zhang Nan – Zhao Yunlei beat Peng Soon Chan – Liu Ying Goh in Group B at BWF Superseries Finals
China’s most seasoned players Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei showed their supremacy in the arena as they crushed Malaysia’s Peng Soon Chan and Liu Ying Goh in Mixed Doubles Group B match at BWF Superseries Finals 2012 in China, on Friday, December 14.
The World Number Four Zhang and Zhao, who are also the fourth seeds in Mixed Doubles category in the championship, played with complete command of rallies and they easily defeated their second seeded Malaysian rivals who are positioned at number three in
the world.
Chinese shuttlers were in tremendous form on court as they played remarkable badminton while staying fully focused and easily ended up this contest in straight games of 34 minutes with a convincing total on score board.
Meanwhile, the higher ranked Peng Soon and Liu Ying failed to show aggression in the arena as they could not play positive badminton and also lost their focus when it mattered most. They eventually went down against their local challengers with a reasonable
deficit.
In the opening set, Zhang and Zhao played with outstanding control in their strokes and they managed to control the affairs from opening points.
The unmatched variations in Zhang and Zhao’s shots helped them to dominate the pace of rallies and they pushed Malaysian shuttlers on back foot.
Chinese couple progressed with an impressive speed and stayed ahead on score board until the end of opening half.
After the break, Zhang and Zhao continued playing positive badminton and managed to end up the opening set with a convincing 21-17 score on the board.
In the following set, the lower ranked Chinese couple remained on track as they did not lose their speed and focus at any stage and managed to stay ahead until the end of opening half.
After the break, Zhang and Zhao maintained their upper hand all the way and managed to end up the second game with a decent total of 21-17.
The aggressive Chinese shuttlers played with confidence and they easily stamped their mark over Peng Soon and Liu Ying with a reasonable 21-17 and 21-17 score on the board.
